A day you design
Some of our best days started as an email that said: we have one free day, we like architecture and we do not want to be rushed.
The table above is a five-hour day. Longer days scale with it: an eight-hour day is €575 in an E-Klasse or Tesla, €750 in the V-Klasse and €875 in an S-Klasse; a ten-hour day is €850, €1,100 and €1,275 respectively.
How this works
You tell us three things: how many hours you have, how many of you there are, and roughly what you like. We send back a route with times and a fixed price. If the route is not right we change it before you pay anything.
Days people have asked us for
- Delft, The Hague and the coast. Vermeer's town, the Mauritshuis, and Scheveningen pier. Eight hours.
- Kinderdijk and Rotterdam. Nineteen windmills on a UNESCO site in the morning, modern architecture in the afternoon. Eight hours.
- Utrecht and the Castle De Haar. A canal city without the Amsterdam crowds, and the largest castle in the country. Eight hours.
- The Afsluitdijk and Friesland. Thirty-two kilometres of causeway across the sea, and the lakes beyond it. Ten hours.
- Photography days. Sunrise at the mills, blue hour on a polder road. We have done these; they start uncomfortably early and they are worth it.
What we will tell you not to do
Amsterdam to Paris and back in a day is technically possible and we have been asked for it. It is ten hours of driving for four hours in a city. We would rather send you to the station than take your money for that, and we will say so.
Questions
How is a custom day priced?
By the hours and the vehicle. A five-hour day starts at €350 in an E-Klasse or Tesla, €449 in the V-Klasse and €525 in an S-Klasse; an eight-hour day is €575 / €750 / €875 and a ten-hour day €850 / €1,100 / €1,275. Anything longer is quoted. Distance is included; we never charge per kilometre.
Can you do multi-day?
Yes. We quote per day and you arrange your own hotels, which works out cheaper than a package. Tell us the days and the regions and we will send a route and a price.
Can you take us outside the Netherlands?
We can, but we will usually talk you out of it. Bruges is three hours each way and Paris five, which turns a day into a drive. If you want Belgium we would rather quote you two days than one.
